ERH Consult has signed an agreement to study the hydropower potential of various areas of Chile with the Chilean developer company Minicentrales Hidroeléctricas Lda. The purpose of this agreement is to detect areas of concentration of resources for the subsequent hydroelectric development of the same.
Within this agreement, ERH Consult will develop all the engineering of the exploitations that are initiated.
At present, in Chile, hydroelectric plants classified as a non-conventional renewable generation means about 1.2% of the total installed in Chile [CER, 2011], with 215 MW.
The theoretical potential of Chile for small power plants, or in passing, is higher than 20,000 MW.
