ERH Consult has signed with a group of Catalan investors a Project Management contract for the development of three hydroelectric plants in the Chilean Biobío region.
These plants will be located in the infrastructures of an important Association of Canalistas, taking advantage of the existing infrastructures to obtain renewable energy. The three plants have an installed capacity of around 6 MW and their turbine regime will be practically continuous throughout the year, without affecting at any time the irrigation needs of the Canalistas.
According to studies by the Chilean National Irrigation Commission, it is estimated that the gross hydroelectric potential associated with irrigation works, with plants of less than 20 MW, exceeds 1,400 MW, of which a little more than 250 MW are installed.
Under this contract, ERH Consult will develop all the engineering of these three plants, whose previous work has already begun.
